Meet Barbara
With over 30 years of nursing experience, I’ve worked in a variety of hospital settings, including telemetry, labor & delivery, postpartum, and nursery. I’ve also worked in operational departments in hospitals including quality and risk management, accreditation, case management and utilization review. I enjoy learning and taking on new challenges, and healthcare provides plenty of both.
I started my healthcare career working as a nurse technician while in college, and began my nursing career in Kansas City, Mo. My family moved to Los Angeles, CA, in 2005, and I have held executive roles in world-class health systems like the University of California Health and Loma Linda University Health. I also served as the CEO of a specialty hospital in a suburb of Los Angeles.
My many years of experience as a nurse, a nurse manager, and later as an executive have provided me the opportunity to see healthcare from many perspectives. Our healthcare system is very complicated, with many regulations, abbreviations, and processes that can make it very difficult to navigate. As an RN writer, my goal is to help make that complex system easier to understand and to provide the clear answers your readers are looking for.
I specialize in translating complex medical and regulatory concepts into clear, engaging, interesting content tailored to the target audience. Whether writing, editing for grammar and style, or ensuring content is relevant and up to date, I will utilize my broad experience, education and deep expertise to every project.
